Wildlife Garden Group

St Catherine’s Eco Group, Eco Matters would like to thank all that came to help with our second event the Spring Open Wildlife Garden

Another splendid day was spent in our wildlife garden in April. The sun was shinning and the birds were singing, it was so good to be out with nature.  We achieved quite a lot of the tasks that we had set ourselves and the Eco Group especially want to thank all the people that turned up to help especially the three lovely lady volunteers.

List of achievements of the day:

  • We dug out and laid membrane on the first part of the pathway that will go around the garden.
  • Dead headed all the daffodils in the churchyard where they had died.
  • Collected all the very old flower arrangements that had been left in the graveyard. Composted the foliage and recycled the plastic.
  • Installed two hedgehog houses that had been kindly donated.
  • Installed several insect houses that had been made and painted by the children from Messy Church.
  • Removed shrubs that weren’t needed.
  • Painted the raised bed containers by the church door.
  • We enjoyed refreshments of sandwiches and delicious homemade cakes.

If you would like to join our next forage into the Wildlife Garden or any other events that we have planned, look out for the next date which will be posted on this website and on the Church Notice Board.
